Website design and build
Web design in Bermuda for businesses that need the site to do a job
Plenty of small business websites in Bermuda were built once, by someone who has since moved on, and nobody is sure where the contact form sends its messages. HamilTech offers web design in Bermuda as part of a wider job: a site designed, built and launched by the same consultant who sets up your domain, your email and the inbox an inquiry lands in.
The problem
The website is often the one system nobody in the business owns.
The domain is registered to a former employee. The hosting renews on a card that expired. The opening hours on the site disagree with the ones on Google. The contact form sends to an address that stopped being checked two years ago, so the inquiries that did come in were never answered. None of this shows up until someone asks why the phone is quiet.
A typical website developer in Bermuda delivers a good-looking site and moves on to the next project. What is missing is the part around it: who holds the logins, where the form goes, whether the email still works after the move, whether anyone can change the opening hours without calling for help. I build the site and set up that surrounding plumbing in the same job, and write both down.
What a website build includes
A small business website, and everything it depends on.
Every build covers these eight items, whether it is a five-page site for a practice or a larger site with booking and several services.
- Structure agreed before designWhat the site needs to do, the pages that do it, and who it is for, written down first.
- Design around your brandLayout, type and colour built from your existing identity, or kept clean and plain if there is not one yet.
- WordPress with Bricks, or staticWordPress where you want to edit pages yourself. Static HTML where speed and low upkeep matter more.
- Built for phones firstMost visitors arrive on a phone. Layouts, images and tap targets are checked there before the desktop.
- Inquiries that arriveEvery form tested end to end and routed to an inbox or CRM that someone actually reads.
- On-page SEO foundationsTitles, descriptions, headings, structured data, a sitemap and Google Search Console, set up at launch.
- Domain, DNS and email checkedWho holds the domain, where it points, and proof that email still works once the new site is live.
- A written handoverLogins, where everything lives, and how to make the simple edits yourself. Yours to keep.
Pricing
Every website is quoted after a conversation.
No two sites need the same work, so each one is quoted on its own. Tell me about the business and what the site has to do, and you get a written quote with the scope and the exclusions listed.
What shapes the quote
- The number of distinct pages and page templates
- Whether the text and photographs are ready at the start
- Booking, payment or CRM integrations behind the forms
- Content that has to be moved across from an existing site
- Anything custom that an off-the-shelf plugin cannot do properly
How it works
Look at what exists, agree the scope, then build.
-
A conversation
I look at what the business already has: the current site, the domain registrar, hosting, email, and the path an inquiry takes from the form to a reply. Sometimes the answer is a fix, not a new site.
-
A written proposal
The pages, the platform, what you supply and what I do, the quote, and the exclusions listed as plainly as the inclusions. Nothing starts until you approve it in writing.
-
Build, launch, hand over
Design for your review, then the build, form testing, launch and Search Console setup. You receive the handover document with every login and how to make simple edits.
Who it is for
A good fit looks like this.
- A small business or practice in Bermuda with a site that is out of date, or no site at all
- Nobody is sure the contact form works, or where it sends
- You want one person responsible for the site, the domain and the email behind it
- You would rather have a smaller site that stays accurate than a large one nobody updates
- Customers find you on a phone, often while standing somewhere else on the island
Professional practices, clinics, trades, studios, and small hospitality and tourism operators.
Not included in a website build
Listed here, and again on every proposal.
- Domain registration and hosting fees, paid to the provider
- Premium theme, plugin and builder licences, such as a Bricks licence
- Licensed stock photography and paid fonts
- Photography and video
- Ongoing SEO work, which is a separate monthly engagement
- Changes after launch, quoted separately before they start
The domain and hosting accounts are set up in your business's name, not mine. If we ever part ways, the site goes with you.
Questions businesses ask first
Before you commission a website
How much does a small business website cost in Bermuda?
It depends on the scope: the number of pages, whether the text and photos are ready, and whether the forms need booking, payment or CRM integration. Every HamilTech website is quoted in writing after a conversation about what the business needs, so get in touch and ask. The quote you approve is what you pay.
Will you build it on WordPress or as a static site?
It depends on who will edit it. If you want to change pages yourself, WordPress with the Bricks builder is usually right. If the site changes rarely and speed and low maintenance matter more, a static site is faster, cheaper to host and has almost nothing to patch. The proposal says which, and why.
Can I update the website myself after launch?
On a WordPress build, yes: the handover document shows how to edit text, swap photos and add simple pages. On a static site, changes go through me. Either way, larger changes are quoted before they start.
Do you redesign existing websites, or only build new ones?
Both. The first conversation decides which makes sense. Sometimes the honest answer is that the current site is fine and the problem is the form, the domain or the Google Business Profile, which is far less work to fix than a new website.
Will a new website rank on Google?
Every build includes on-page SEO foundations: titles, descriptions, headings, structured data, a sitemap and Search Console. That makes the site readable to Google. Ranking for competitive searches is ongoing work, which is what a local SEO engagement is for. Nobody can honestly guarantee a position.
Who owns the website and the domain?
You do. The domain, hosting and any licences are registered to your business, and the handover document lists every login. If you move to another provider later, everything they need is already written down.
